Specialty and Custom Characters

Specialty and Custom Characters

Specialty and custom characters are those which fall under the Star Wars Legacy or Expanded Universe titles and are not a known character design. These characters are custom in design but must be something that could be found in the Star Wars universe and are generally not based on an existing character.

  1. Characters must be an original design or heavily modified current design and may not be recognizable as a named character (Bobba Fett in a Robe).
  2. Colors must match the character’s alignment. The only exception would be assassin or spy characters who are in a mission ready state.
  3. No visible Velcro, snaps, zippers or other fasteners. Buckles must blend well and not be an obvious Earth design (no video game, decorative, etc. type buckles).
  4. No Toy store type costumes are allowed. Sporting good type items (shin guards, football pads, etc.) can be used if heavily modified.
  5. Costume items must complement each other and be in good condition.
  6. The costume may not be excessively revealing.
  7. Spoof characters (Darth Helmet, Darth Vader as Deadpool) have their own set of rules:
    1. Spoof characters must originate from a verifiable source, be accurate to their source and be appropriate for younger audiences.
    2. Crossover characters must begin as a Star Wars Character.
    3. Characters that are a crossover (Deadpool Vader) will be required to first meet the originating Star Wars character’s CRL. A 100% accurate Boba Fett painted to look like Spider Man would be acceptable.
  8. The Membership Magistrate has final approval of costumes.
  9. For custom characters (non crossover) a sufficient back story must be submitted. It should include character name, origin, job title, originating world and a verifiable reference to a source of inspiration.
    1. An example of a proper backstory: From TGA-001, Darth Tuk’ata: Darth Tukata is based on the description of a Tuk’ata, given by Obi Wan Kenobi, in the Book of the Sith. Tuk’ata means “Sith Hound” and they are commonly found on Korriban, where Darth Tuk’ata was trained by Revan prior to the events of Star Wars KOTOR. After Revan left during the events of KOTOR, Darth Tuk’ata traveled to the Sith ruins and tombs on Korriban, disappearing until after Revan’s defeat. He acquired the knowledge stored in Holocrons found within the tombs and reemerged more powerful than Revan could have imagined. Darth Tuk’ata is a Sith Lord/Bounty Hunter who has amassed a large fortune eliminating targets that are (almost) always high level Force users.
